How the Cash App fee calculation works

What Cash App takes from a business payment and an instant transfer (instant deposit) and what reaches your bank, or what to charge to receive an exact amount.

  1. Business accounts pay a fee on every payment received

Cash App charges 2.6% plus $0.15 on each payment a business account receives from a customer's Cash App account, and 3% on Tap to Pay. On a $100 payment that's $2.75.

  2. Personal accounts receive for free

Receiving money from friends and family on a personal account costs nothing. Sales belong on a business account, or, for eligible sole proprietors, on Cash App's optional Earn in P2P feature, which Cash App's terms say is currently free to receive.

  3. Instant transfer costs extra; standard is free

Moving your balance to your debit card instantly costs 0.5%–2.5%, with a $0.25–$1 minimum and a $75 maximum, shown in the app before you confirm. A standard transfer usually takes 1–3 business days and is free.

  4. To receive an exact amount, work backwards

Switch to "Find what to charge". To keep $100 on a business account, charge $102.82.

Worked example. A customer pays $100.00 to a business account. Cash App takes 2.6% ($2.60) plus $0.15, so $97.25 lands in your balance. Cashing that out instantly at 1.75% costs another $1.70, leaving $95.55.
